This is an army related batterfly pin badge. The front is a China Army flag which have a gold star on the top right corner.The two chinese words means “eight one” which stand for the date of establishment of the Communist Army（1st August of 1927). The middle number 149 is the amy unit number. The last word means division. One division in China is about 13000 to 15000 soldiers. On the back side of this badge is sandy surface which can reduce a lot of polishing job during production.(Since the back side is not very important as the front side). You can also see words on the back ,it means Association of Veterans of 149 Division. So this badge was made for an association of retired soldiers.
